In 2022, Formation Building was entrusted with a more significant project—creating a private wing for the client’s mother. This DA-approved extension involved demolishing the existing external wall, installing new footings and foundation walls, and constructing a new lounge room, bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, and ensuite bathroom. The aim was to seamlessly integrate the new addition with the original home, which we achieved by sourcing specially milled weatherboards to match the existing cladding. We also matched the timberwork, window and door trims, and continued the hardwood flooring throughout. The result was a fully integrated, multi-generational living space that retained the original charm of the home while improving its functionality.
Three years after the wing extension, we returned to the property to complete a new extension above the existing garage: a master bedroom and parents’ retreat. This CDC-approved project allowed us to bypass council approval, saving both time and costs. The design required careful planning to ensure the external walls were positioned 2.4 metres from the neighbour’s boundary, as per CDC regulations. The extension was designed to be both private and connected to the rest of the house, preserving the home’s continuity while providing a secluded space for the parents. This thoughtful design ensured the new space blended effortlessly with the existing structure.
For both the second and third phases, we provided a comprehensive pre-construction service, which included all design, engineering, and a detailed scope of work.
